This Way with Thermal and a Quarter and Skinny Alley!

RA Events, in association with Time Out Mumbai, Furtados and Split Magazine are organising one of the season’s biggest rock shows. ‘This Way’, featuring two of India’s top rock ‘n’ roll acts Thermal and a Quarter and Skinny Alley, will take place at Razz, Juhu Hotel (Mumbai), on Saturday, the 28th of October from 5PM onwards.
Thermal And A Quarter (TAAQ) is a groundbreaking band of musicians based in Bangalore, India. TAAQ is Bruce Lee Mani (electric and acoustic guitars, vocals), Rajeev Rajagopal (drums, percussion), Rzhude (bass, acoustic guitar, vocals), David Pascall (vocals, percussion) and Tony Das (guitars, vocals). Having opened for legends such as Deep Purple (April 2001) and Jethro Tull (February 2006), TAAQ has played in some of the coolest, hippest joints in India and some of the pearls of the boondocks — from bars in Glasgow and London, the Oberoi’s, Taj’s, Leela’s and Not Just Jazz’es of Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and New Delhi, to obscure ethnic festivals in Kochi to save a grove of rain trees. In May-June 2006, TAAQ toured Glasgow and London, playing to some of the most receptive audiences ever. TAAQ has so far treated fans in several countries worldwide to three albums — ‘Thermal And A Quarter’ (2000), ‘Jupiter Café’ (2002) and ‘Plan B’ (2004).
Skinny Alley is a band consisting of five of the most experienced and versatile musicians writing and performing music in India. Their debut album “Escape the Roar” was released under the EMI Music label and have been playing around the country and abroad to promote the album to excellent responses. They have toured Chennai, Bombay and Pune in India and Western Australia in the past few months. The music of Skinny Alley is a mix of their varied influences from rock and funk to pop and R&B.Their stage act is sharp and seamless and their music communicates to all people regardless of age and gender. The band is now in the process of recording their second album — music they call “eclectic rock”, combining as it does so many elements of rock — classic, metal, post-punk, pop-rock and jazz-rock!
