By Arun Kale | March 14, 2007

Split Magazine: Metal A Headbanger's JourneyMetal: A Headbanger’s Journey‘ is a documentary made by anthropologist Sam Dunn about heavy metal as a genre of music and the culture that accompanies it. It’s a brilliantly made film and is being distributed by Warner Brothers.

After the success of ‘Metal: A Headbanger’s Journey’, Sam Dunn is ready to take on the world metal scene and is visiting China, Japan, UAE and various other cities to check out the Global Metal scene, which his new documentary is based on. India is one of those countries that he will be visiting.

A rock concert, sponsored by Furtados Music, is going to be filmed as part of an upcoming DVD. And we know that all you metalheads in Mumbai will make this experience for them a memorable one. The bands scheduled to play are:

Prakalp: In a scene filled with bands singing in English, Prakalp are a brand new band taking a bold step and singing in Hindi. Their sound is fresh, heavy and symphonic. These guys play Symphonic Metal infused with Indian-style vocals and Hindi lyrics.

Exhumation: After releasing their EP ‘For Personal Consumption Only’, Exhumation seemed to be dead and gone, but the band is back full force and ready to make a killer comeback with some new material and a powerful line-up.

Demonic Resurrection: Following a good performance at GIR, Demonic Resurrection, with new drummer Kishan, is all set to shake the foundations at Razz. Watch out for a brand new track titled “Journey To Solaris”.

Bhayanak Maut: With a new addition to the line-up and with an ass kicking performance at GIR ‘07, Bhayanak Maut is all set to make a serious impact in Mumbai. With new guitarist Aditya Gopinathan (also of Amidst the Chaos), the band is ready to unleash some new material at the gig along with other popular tracks from their latest EP ‘Malignant’.

Reptilian Death: A metal band that doesnt take themselves too seriously, Reptilian Death play their music and have fun while doing it. With their old school death metal style originals and Reptilian style covers of songs like “Smells Like Teen Spirit”, their set is nothing short of entertaining.
