Shaa’ir and Func: ‘New Day’ Album Launch @ Zenzi

By Arun Kale | May 6, 2007

Shaa'ir and Func album launchFresh after a great show at the Big Chill Goa festival, Shaa’ir and Func will be launching their debut full-length album on Wednesday, May 9, at Zenzi (Waterfield Road, Bandra). The band, formed by singer/songwriter Monica Dogra and Randolph Correia (of Pentagram and funcinternational fame), will be performing songs from the new album along with drummers T2 and Lindsay. For those who missed the band at the Big Chill, you can catch them performing new songs, and according to Monica, Wednesday promises to be a “damn good party”.

The track list for ‘New Day (The Love Album)’ is as follows:

9 PM

1. Ambidextrous Hands of Love (intro)
2. It’s Probably That
3. Broken
4. Hit
5. Government
6. Juxtapose
7. Swirl
8. It’s Probably This
9. Moonlight
10. New Day

9 AM

11. Oops
12. Secret
13. Swirl
14. Hit
15. Government
16. Broken
17. Another Secret
18. Juxtapose
19. New Day
20. Parles and Chai (outro)

In case you’re wondering about some songs being listed twice, they’re different versions. The ‘9 PM’ section of the album features songs that would be fit for clubs and other such, basically post-9 PM music. The 9 AM versions are the “original” versions of the songs. ‘New Day (The Love Album)’ is 20 tracks of some really good music. Make sure you drop by at Zenzi on Wednesday for the launch. Until then, you can listen to Shaa’ir and Func on Split Radio. We have an exclusive interview with the band coming up soon, so stay tuned for that!
