Lounge Piranha: Ebb
Bangalore-based post-rock miscreants Lounge Piranha are definitely one of the better new bands in the Indian rock scene. “Ebb”, one of the songs from their debut five-song EP, exudes ambient sounds and eloquent lyrics.
After listening to just the first five seconds of the song, you know it is going to be quite special. The song is made up of myriad instances that one can relate to, but paints a twisted picture when actually strung together. When it’s over, you wish it wasn’t, and probably end up listening to it again (at least I did).
Overall, the song boasts of all the vital elements required for a performance par excellence. George Mathen is amazing on the drums, Abhijeet’s vocals convey just the right sentiments and the guitarists make sure the song stays right on track without straying into something it isn’t. After having listened to “Ebb” and some of Lounge Piranha’s other songs, one can say the band’s sound is quite distinct when compared to any other Indian band in its league.
Owing to their innovative techniques and experimentation with different sounds, Lounge Piranha seem to be well on their way to the apex of the independent music scene in India.

nice review. great song.
Err, if this is post-rock then Fly Pan Am is a reggae band.
:-) hi rohan - nice one.
hmmmm - how do we deal with this issue. If you ever get to listen to us play a show, all this might not be so idiotic anymore.
Somewhere between recording a demo and including what we could into a budget and a situation of looking for a close genre and blah blah blah we let you fly Pan Am.
I hope you give us another chance :-)
