SplitRadio.in: Split Radio, New and Improved!
An Internet radio station exclusive to bands from the Indian subcontinent, Split Radio was started in October 2006 as an extension of Split Magazine, and received a very warm welcome from music fans around the country on its inception.
It’s been close to a year and a half since we launched the radio station. In all that time, we’ve been busy creating and publishing exclusive content — interviews with everyone from Shaa’ir + Func to Bhayanak Maut, along with shows based on various themes and trends in the Indian music scene. We’ve also added a lot of new songs to our playlist, and, of course, received a lot of suggestions and feedback from you, our listeners.
And now, we’re all grown up. Starting today, a lot of things change for the better with respect to Split Radio. You’ll notice that Split Radio now has a brand new logo, Web site and URL. The radio player is completely redesigned as well. You can now read about artists and appreciate their album art while you listen to songs on the player.
All our exclusive shows now have their own pages. You can comment on individual shows and share them with your friends. Each show is tagged with various labels that you can browse through to quickly find a show that interests you.
If you’re part of a band, you’ll appreciate our new DIY section, where you can submit your songs to us directly via a handy form.
To top it all off, we’ve got two great interviews for you. Pradeep Miranda from Pin Drop Violence and Jayashree Singh from Skinny Alley were kind enough to speak to us about their recently released albums and what they’ve been up to over the past year, amongst other things. Lots of great quotes and anecdotes in there — you definitely don’t want to miss out on either of the two interviews!
Lastly, we’d love to know what you think of the all new Split Radio. Please let us know at info@splitradio.in — or you could just post your comments using the form below. We’re also on the lookout for RJs, so if you’re interested, feel free to get in touch.
If you’ve been a regular listener of Split Radio over the past year, we sincerely hope you enjoy the new avatar of Split Radio and continue to tune in. If this is your first time, we hope you enjoy your stay, do keep coming back for more great music.
